Shawls are so fun to knit and fun to wear, too. Eye-catching, cozy and versatile, a good shawl can be your favorite go-to accessory during the chilly months.
Come learn how to create 3 different shawls during our Shawl Sampler Class. We'll knit teeny versions of the Vintage Winter, Reversible Cable, and Easy Linen shawls so you can find a shape/style/technique that works for you. Pick one to knit in a size to fit you, or knit all of them. They also make lovely gifts!
When, Where, How Much: Saturday, October 21, from 2-4pm at Barnes and Noble West Ashely (Sam Rittenberg Blvd). Class fee is $25 per person, ages 12 and up.
This class is for advanced beginners--you should be proficient at the basics: cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and gauge.
To knit the 3 sampler size shawls, we'll use worsted weight yarn in 3 colors (your choice) and needles in US sizes 7, 9, and 10 (to achieve the gauges as follows:
Reversible Cable Wrap--US size 7 needles and Red Heart with Love yarn (one color), gauge is 16 stitches = 4 inches in garter stitch.
Vintage Winter Shawl--US Size 10 needles and Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool (3 colors), gauge is 3.5 stitches = 1 inch in garter stitch.
Easy Linen Stitch Shawl--US Size 9 needles and KnitPicks Wool of the Andes worsted (3 colors), gauge is 22 stitches = 4 inches in linen stitch.
Having said all that....if you bring worsted weight yarn and sizes 7, 9, and 10 needles, we can make the wee sample shawls and check those for your gauge.
