Carousel Hat Class

Come learn the techniques needed to knit the Carousel Hat, my pattern published by Red Heart Yarns. 



What you'll need to bring:  Approx. 200 yd. of heavy worsted weight yarn; 16" size 7 circular needle and 4 size 7 double-pointed needles; stitch markers. Please choose a bright or light color so you can more easily see what you are doing!

You have homework:  Gauge: 4 sts/1" Cast on 65 stitches for small (16") or 81 stitches for a large size(20"). Join in the round being carful not to twist stitches & knit the last cast on stitch together with the first cast on stitch to decrease to either 64 or 80 sts. Place marker for beg. of round.  Knit as follows: Rnds 1-5: (K1,P1) around for ribbing   Rnds 6-8: Knit all sts  Rnd 9: Purl all sts

What you need to know: The basics of knitting: how to cast on, knit in the round, and purl.

What you'll learn: the twist stitch technique and the importance of counting to keep your place!
